Mother Wins Luxury Jinja Getaway in C-Care Postnatal Wellness Raffle

A mother of two has won a fully sponsored three-day luxury vacation to Jinja after emerging victorious in a raffle draw organized by C-Care IHK, an initiative aimed at celebrating motherhood and promoting postnatal wellness.

The winner, Jackie Soki, who delivered at C-Care IHK, was selected during the hospital’s Moms’ Squad event held on Saturday. The event brought together mothers who had delivered at the facility to share experiences and receive professional medical guidance. Soki was among mothers who delivered between May and December.

The all-expenses-paid getaway, dubbed a “Mom-Cation,” will see Soki, her husband, and their baby travel to Whispers Luxury Resort on the River Nile in Jinja.

In a unique addition, C-Care IHK will provide a professional midwife to accompany the family throughout the trip to ensure the baby’s wellbeing while the parents rest and enjoy the experience. The midwife, Janet Egesa, was also selected through a raffle draw and will monitor the baby during the holiday, allowing the family to relax with peace of mind.

According to the hospital, the initiative is designed to highlight the importance of rest, recovery, and emotional support for mothers following childbirth.

Speaking at the event, C-Care IHK Marketing Manager Lysandra Idusso said the Mom-Cation was introduced as a way of giving back to mothers who place their trust in the hospital during one of the most demanding periods of their lives.

“After giving birth, mothers are often physically and mentally exhausted. We asked ourselves how we could better support the women who trust us with their care. This initiative allows them to rest, bond with their families, and recover in a calm environment,” Idusso said.

She explained that the holiday package is fully funded, covering transport, accommodation, meals, and activities, with flexible travel dates to accommodate working parents.

“The holiday is fully paid for. The family only needs to pack their clothes; everything else is taken care of,” she said.

Idusso also highlighted the Moms’ Squad as a long-term support platform for mothers beyond delivery.

“The Moms’ Squad is a bi-annual event, but support continues even when the event is not taking place. We walk with our mothers throughout their postnatal journey,” she said.

She added that the initiative includes a WhatsApp support group that connects mothers directly to midwives for real-time guidance.

“Mothers don’t always need to come back to the hospital. Through the group, they can ask questions at any time, whether it’s about prolonged crying or a high fever, and our midwives respond promptly,” Idusso explained.

C-Care General Manager Miriam Mutero reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to comprehensive maternal and child care, describing the facility as a long-term partner for families.

“We launched a campaign called It Takes a Village because raising a child involves many people. At C-Care IHK, we want to be part of that village,” Mutero said.

She revealed that the hospital is expanding its infrastructure to better serve mothers and children.

“Our women’s center had become too small, and we are now expanding. A new women’s center and a new children’s center are under construction next to the hospital and are expected to be completed within four months,” she said.

Beyond celebration, the Moms’ Squad session also focused on health education. Mothers received information on modern maternal care options, including painless labour techniques.

Obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Mathias Musanje explained epidural analgesia as a safe and effective pain management option during labour.

“It is one of the modern methods of pain control during labour and has benefits for the mother, baby, and health worker. It allows the mother to have a more comfortable experience while enabling better clinical assessment,” Dr. Musanje said.

He noted that the procedure is safe when properly administered, with minimal and manageable side effects for a small number of patients.

As the year comes to a close, C-Care IHK says it remains committed to supporting families throughout their maternal and child health journey, both within and beyond the hospital setting.
